TURBO INSTALLATION PROJECT (continued)

I finished welding the pipes to the flanges and mounted them back on the motor.

The flanges stayed real flat mounted to the jig and all I had to do was touch them up on a belt sander.and they were good to go.

Next we machined the spots on the intake manifold where the injectors will mount. Welded in the injector bungs and made two fuel rails

The fuel rails are mounted real solid to the two center bolts of the intake manifold with a piece of 1/4" x 4" aluminum flat. The fuel rail material was tapped to 3/8" NPT.

Next I started on the intercooler. I made a base out of 1/4" aluminum and made a raised area out of aluminum angle to set the core on. The raised area was necessary because the bottom of the core is larger than the dominator carb hole in the intake manifold.

I went to a local radiator shop and picked out a heater core from a city bus that looked to be about the dimensions that I needed. The core is copper and brass for the best heat transfer. The core is mounted down to the base with 1/4" threaded rod with fuel hose slid over the area where it contacts the core.

Next I made a 1/4" aluminum cover for the core that will also be the place to mount the two throttle bodies.

The water lines to the intercooler core are run through the cover with -8 bulkhead fittings and two short lengths of stainless braided line.

I bought two throttle bodies and mounted them on either side of the cover, then bought four 3" aluminum bends to connect the compressors to the throttle bodies.

The throttle bodies will aim the air flow from the compressors directly at each other to cancel out the velocity.

I decided I needed a scoop on top so I mounted the one from the dual carbs that were left from the blower motor.

I bought two 4" aluminum bends to connect the compressors to the scoop, sawed the back of the scoop out and welded the tubes into the back of the scoop from the inside.

I used a morse cable to connect the throttle bodies to each other. It is real positive.
